Meet the Crew
We're a "one man operation" ... supported by one strong woman and three sweet daughters. Oh, and kind of like raising a child takes a village, so does running a family farming operation. So although the crew below seems small ... we recognize the significant contributions of other players such as PaPa, GaGa, Aunt KK, and Uncle Donald, among others (you'll probably read about these characters and contributions over on the blog eventually).
our Main Man
Daddy. Our foundation.
The Man who does it all [literally]. He's built this operation from scratch and works tirelessly to grow it and improve it. He tends to our livestock daily and carefully plans and executes our crop operation, always seeking ways to improve its precision.
our Main Woman
Mama. Our glue.
She dabbles in a lot of things ~ mama first, Aunt BeBe, RN, teacher, farm hand, garden, photography. She teaches at Mizzou School of Nursing, works PRN as a bedside RN, and is also currently pursuing her DNP.
Avery, Adalynn & Etta
the [human] Children
Avery (6), Adalynn (4), & Etta Jane (infant).
Young hearts full of adventure. You can imagine they're a BIG help around here and really increase efficiency.
We met on a blind date arranged by a mutual trail-riding friend (Thanks, Jess, we really owe ya!). After a short engagement, we were married in 2012. Our goals and dreams began to mingle and Foxtail Farms was born. After 18 years working for John Deere, Chris was able to step away and pursue farming full time in 2014. And Foxtail Farms has been growing and improving every day since.
Our 'why' runs deeper than a day job. Chris' answer to this question since the day we met has been unwavering: "I was born to do this." And he's right - you don't enter farming these days to run a high-profit business. You do it for reasons like teaching your children, and someday their children, how to be good stewards of the resources God has blessed us with on Earth. For taking care of livestock and caring about them so deeply you sacrifice your blood, sweat, and tears to make it work.
It's leaving a legacy you can't even describe - because those who don't live it - can't possibly understand it. It's blessings on blessings living in God's country and doing His work.
Our Mission at Foxtail Farms
Praise. Respect. Advocate.
Educate. Learn. Grow.
Praise: We praise and thank Him daily for the blessings He continues to bestow on our family and our farming operation.
Respect: We deeply respect the land and livestock God has entrusted us with, and want to teach others to do the same.
Advocate: We strive to advocate for the land, the livestock, our fellow farming families, the agricultural practices we believe in, and the industry as a whole.
Educate: We hope to educate others about our way of life, how we care for the land and livestock, and why we do what we do the way we do it.
Learn: We seek new knowledge and education for ourselves as we work to raise desirable yields in our crop, healthy lives in our cattle, and joyful, strong lives for our family.
Grow: We aim to nurture our family farming operation for continuous growth by setting short and long term goals and working diligently to achieve them.
